Ouigo discounts tickets for young people from 18 to 30 years old throughout the summer

Ouigo discounts of 50% on the ticket price up to a maximum of 30 euros for young people between 18 and 30 years old to travel between June 15 and September 15, 2023. Tickets can be purchased on the website and app of the railway company and discounts may be applied to single and return tickets.

Beneficiaries, Spanish or from the European Union with legal residence in Spain born between 1993 and 2005, can register on the website of the Ministry of Transport from June 1. This registration is mandatory before making the first purchase, as it verifies that the user meets all the requirements.

Ouigo thus joins the ‘Young Summer’ program of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, which seeks to discount 50% of high-speed train tickets.

The company offers general fare tickets from 9 euros, with which it wants to encourage travel for all types of profiles (young people, families, students, the self-employed). In addition, it offers a flat rate of 5 euros for children between 4 and 13 years old, and children up to 3 years old traveling free in the arms of an adult. In times of greatest demand, such as Fallas and Christmas, discounts and offers are also applied on their usual rates.

Liberalization of the railway sector

In May 2021, the company led the liberalization of the high-speed passenger rail sector in Spain with the start of 5 daily round-trip circulations (10 journeys) between Madrid and Barcelona, with stops in Zaragoza and Tarragona. In October 2022, it led the liberalization of a second route, the one between Madrid and Valencia, with 3 daily round-trips (6 routes).

Finally, on April 27, it brought the benefits of its low-fare model and quality service to the Madrid-Albacete-Alicante route, with 2 daily round-trip frequencies (4 journeys).

The company has already transported more than 6 million passengers and is working to arrive in Córdoba, Seville and Málaga in the second half of 2024, destinations with which it will complete all the paths awarded in its framework agreement.

It has recently requested a capacity study from Adif to start operating in 2024 on the Valladolid – Segovia – Madrid – Albacete – Alicante lines; and Madrid-Elche-Murcia.
