The Council of Ministers has given the green light to the Ministry of Transportation to acquire, through the public land entity SEPES, up to 8.25 million m2 of public land owned by Defense to build some 20,000 affordable homes in 34 municipalities of 14 communities and in Ceuta and Melilla. The authorization has been given by him and the estimated budget of the operation is around 620 million euros and will cover 50 performances.
The Defense land included in this initiative is distributed among municipalities in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia, and the cities autonomies of Ceuta and Melilla.
Specifically, the largest number of homes is projected for Madrid (10,500 units), followed by Catalonia (Sant Boi de Llobregat) with 1,600, and Castilla y León (León, Valladolid, Medina del Campo, Ávila and Valverde de la Virgen) with 1,516, according to the statement sent by the Ministry of Transport.
Murcia (Murcia, Lorca, Cartagena and San Javier) is also found with more than 1,000 projected homes, with 1,274; and Asturias (Oviedo) with 1,000.
Next comes the autonomous city of Melilla (972 homes), Andalusia (Seville, San Fernando, Ronda, Malaga, Algeciras), with 659; Galicia (Ferrol, A Coruña and Pontevedra), with 486; Extremadura (Mérida, Badajoz and Plasencia), with 465; Castilla-La Mancha (Toledo, Guadalajara and Albacete), with 462; or the Canary Islands (Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de la Laguna), with 393.
In Cantabria (Santander) 257 homes are projected, in Aragón (Zaragoza) 120, in the Valencian Community (Alicante and Alcoy) 112 and in the autonomous city of Ceuta 44 and in La Rioja 16.
The other 15,957 SEPES homes
SEPES currently has fifteen residential actions signed that will allow the development of 15,957 homes on public land, which, added to the new agreements with Defense, give a total of 65 actions spread throughout the country to build some 35,900 affordable homes. These homes are located in Malaga, Seville, Ibiza, Mahón, Palma, Madrid, Valencia, Ceuta, Melilla, Tarragona, Girona, Vizcaya, Cáceres and Lugo.
And it is that SEPES is already obtaining a public land purchase program, such as the disused land of the Campamento (Madrid), Son Busquets (Palma de Mallorca), Engineers and Artillery (Valencia) or Basauri barracks (San Sebastián), to promote the construction of affordable housing.
