Thanks to synchronization with iCloud we have been able to not only access the gallery of our current iPhone, but all of it. The conclusion is a curiosity and also an evidence: We have had excellent cameras on the iPhone for many years now. So much so that not a single one of our choices has been one of the most recent models. Not even the iPhone 14.

The best photo of Guille Lomener

Our latest signing as Applesfera editor is Guille Lomener, although his experience as a content creator around Apple is by no means short. He has been carrying an iPhone in his hand since 2010 and his choice is a spectacular Tenerife scene which he took with an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Phone 11 Pro Max: 13mm ultra-wide-angle camera, 12 Megapixels, f/2.4, ISO 25, 1/2283s

“This photo is special because it was one of the first photos I took with the ultra-wide-angle camera of the iPhone 11 Pro. In addition, it is in Tenerife at one of the Teide viewpoints. One of the places where I have been most relaxed throughout my life. Without hearing anything and with impressive views.”

The best (magazine) photo of Isra Fdez.

Our coordinator has acknowledged that (as happened to all of us) it has been very difficult for him to choose an image. Finally he decided on this one. immortalization of the most representative part of Malaga. He very correctly states that it looks like something from a catalog of the Andalusian city. And the best thing is that, she says, “it’s made literally without looking,” with a 2x zoom that impresses with how it adjusts light and measures details. “It speaks much better about the iPhone 15 Pro than it does about me,” says Isra.

The most special scene captured by Pedro Aznar

Our director had the pleasure of being one of the not many people who attended the first opening of the Steve Jobs Theater. It was six and a half years ago, when Apple presented the already iconic iPhone laid the foundations for the then newly opened Apple Park. Of course, the giant screen photo of Jobs crowns the scene. It was made with an iPhone 7 Plus, Apple’s most cutting-edge (until a few minutes later the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X were official).

The best portrait of César Muela is a dog

César Muela is one of our bosses, being the deputy editorial director of the technology vertical of Webedia Spain. With his iPhone 13 Pro Max he has captured countless scenes, although if we ask him for the best, he throws away the sentimental and opts for Thor. Not the god of thunder or the one from the Marvel movies, but his dog. Of course, as he explains, the photo is more than just a portrait of your friendsince it is a very well done photograph.

iPhone 13 Pro Max: main camera 5.7 mm, 12 Megapixels, f/1.5, ISO40, 1/242s

“This is one of my favorite photos of my dog, Thor. We were in the park, I saw the sunlight that contrasted the background that I really liked and I tried to square it so that it illuminated part of it. I like the level of detail that got the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It uses the bokeh effect very well, respecting even the hairs on your ears, and the sharpness allows you to even read your name on its plate. And I really like the dynamic range. A very balanced and natural photo. “

The best “studio” photo of Álvaro García M.

For me, like the rest of my colleagues, it has been difficult for me to choose an image. However, I have chosen to also choose one of my dog Toby. And like Caesar, it’s not so much sentimental, but it’s also a great photograph that could be worthy of a photo studio. It was taken with an iPhone 11 Pro in the portrait mode with “mono high key light” filter. For the sake of comparison, I leave aside the original photograph without a filter to better assess how well the iPhone ends up resolving the scene, given that the original could not be more normal.

The best snapshots are those that we take almost accidentally.

Something I appreciate in light of our choices is that, even if they were not random photos, they are still coincidental in the end. These are photos that We shoot the first time and almost without thinking. With the automatic mode of the native camera we can obtain great wonders and playing with options such as portrait or zoom, even more.

The virtue of mobile phones, and not just Apple, is increasing in this area. You no longer need a professional camera or even be an expert in photography to immortalize great scenes easily and quickly. Logically, the quality is still inferior in a smartphone, but time has shown us how in the end what was once a secondary function in devices like the original iPhone, has become one of the most sought-after and analyzed functions. Let alone seeing examples like the ones we have presented here.

And you? What is the best photo you have on your iPhone?
