Getir announces an ERE in Spain to operate “with more efficiency and effectiveness”

The ultra-fast delivery company Getir, which operates in nine countries, has announced this Wednesday to the workers’ representatives its intention to initiate a collective dismissal procedure in Spain. The company has specified that this measure will only affect Spain, where it intends to adjust its structure, “seeking to operate with more efficiency and effectiveness, in order to try to ensure viability in Spain with a sustainable business model,” according to a statement. .

Getir explained that, like other companies, it has “been forced to reassess its growth plans, strategies, and operating model in response to the difficult economic outlook, marked by uncertainty, inflation, and rising interest rates.” The ultra-fast delivery company has stressed that its objective with this employment regulation file (ERE) is to “create a sustainable model in Spain”, while specifying that this workforce adjustment will not affect customers, who will be able to continue using their services “normally”.

In this way, Getir, which has not communicated how many workers this procedure will affect, will begin talks with the union representation on June 15. The ultra-fast delivery company currently has a presence in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Seville and Malaga, where it had almost 3,000 employees, according to company data from last summer.

Getir was born in 2015 in Istanbul as the world’s first ultra-fast online shopping company, and currently operates in nine countries on three continents, being present in European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Berlin and Paris.
